I really loved painting the Lady with the Ermine by Leonardo Da Vinci because for me it represents a wonderful piece of Tuscan art history. (end of 1400, currently exposed in Krakow).
This painting is a symbol of Purity without a doubt. Originally this was the reason for the presence of the ermine in Leonardo’s painting. It was Leonardo himself who said this phrase referring to the animal:
“he prefers to get caught by the hunters, before flee into the den muddy”
To not dirty his coat, the ermine refuses to hide in the muddy den and prefers to be hunted by hunters.
I have a bit distorted the ermine features and in my picture it looks more like a white dog…!
