I believe that the meaning of the original work may derive from cultural and religious situations of that historical period. Perhaps it was the symbol of cultural renewal, sealed by the pure beauty of the enchanting Simonetta Vespucci.
Serenity is the main meaning in my interpretation. In my picture, Venus has reassuring and dreamy eyes that make this message prevail. I put inside the message GOD IS WITH ME (Dio è qui con me).
The young Simonetta Vespucci was the protagonist of the male imagination in the Renaissance era, due to its immeasurable beauty. She died very young at the age of 23, due to a fulminant disease. Paradoxically she still lives today thanks to this painting by Sandro Botticelli.
Above a sweet moment with my Rugo and Tita pugs when I’m painting in 2015 my Venus in Mixed Media technique. You can notice the various material applications that precede the final drawing with oil colors.
